LVL lash lift vs lash extensions – The difference explained

In the quest for longer, darker and thicker eyelashes, people have come up with a range of solutions. Mascara and fake eyelashes are still incredibly popular and used by many women on a daily basis. However, if you’ve been looking for something more permanent, you may have already wondered: what is the difference between LVL lash lift and lash extensions?

LVL lash lift vs lash extensions – Process difference:

lash lift

An LVL lash lift simply enhances your existing eyelashes rather than adding anything synthetic to them. Your natural lashes are combed and fixed into place, and a perming solution is applied. This is left on for 6 to 12 minutes, then followed by lotions to set the lashes in place and condition them to keep them soft and healthy. The entire process only takes around an hour from start to finish.

In contrast, lash extensions work by adding artificial lashes on top of yours. This is a more delicate process than using a strip of fake eyelashes, as instead, the beautician will attach individual fake lashes to your own. This can take up to two hours to complete as each lash is attached one by one.

LVL lash lift vs lash extensions – Price difference:

Prices will always depend on the salon, but generally an LVL lash lift costs around £63 and lasts 6 to 8 weeks. Lash extensions can be more expensive due to the time required to carry out the process – the first session would be over £119, with infills costing £69. They also require more maintenance, and it’s recommended you go for infills every 3 to 5 weeks.’

LVL lash lift vs lash extensions – the Look:

Another difference to consider in the debate of LVL lash lift vs lash extensions is the look that each procedure will leave you with. An LVL lash lift is perfect for people who already have fairly dark or long lashes, and who are looking for a natural and subtle look.

If your eyelashes are very short and fair, you may not get the desired results from a lash lift and may want to consider extensions instead. Likewise, if you are after a dramatic look with big, bold lashes, extensions would be more appropriate as you may not achieve this with a lash lift.
